MANIFESTO
A Manifesto Delivered by Christian Gbedemah
A Candidate for the 2025/2026 Academic Year SRC Presidential Elections of Peki College of Education
On this day, 31th August, 2025, at the Menka Assembly Hall
Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Esteemed Tutors, The SRC President and his reputable Executives, Fellow Candidates, Learned Colleagues in Training, Ladies and Gentlemen: Good evening.
My name is Gbedemah Christian, I am reading B.Ed in J.H.S education specifically in the Languages Department . I am an aspirant for the position of SRC President for the 2025/2026 academic year. I am vibrant, creative, open-minded, and mission-driven.
I have served in various student groups including the choir, drama club, and the cultural troupe — platforms that have shaped my leadership, sharpened my voice, and strengthened my resolve to serve.
For this office, you need someone who is not only visible but visionary. Someone who understands the pulse of the student body and is ready to act. I am not here to make noise—I am here to make a difference.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am not here to exaggerate promises, nor am I here to criticize the outgoing regime. I am here to humbly present my intentions for a strategic, inclusive, and student-centered administration.
ACADEMIC POLICIES
1. Wi-Fi Expansion to the New Secretariat and dining hall.
We aim to expand Wi-Fi coverage to the new secretariat to ensure smooth administrative activities and easy access for all students. This includes extending coverage to the dining hall to prevent students from walking from their dormitories to places like Block C late at night just to access the internet.
2. Organizing Educative Programs
We want to give every student the opportunity to develop and enhance their academic journey by providing extra support. For example, we will collaborate with the I.T. Department to offer training in prompt engineering (how to use AI effectively and efficiently in doing assignment), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for assignments. We will also liaise with the Quality Assurance Unit to organize talks on referencing and plagiarism in project work—well before students reach Level 400—to reduce the challenges they face during their final year.
3. Digital Access to Past Questions
To ease academic preparation, we have developed a Telegram bot where students can conveniently access a full archive of past questions from their dormitories—eliminating the stress of searching through piles of paper or going around asking peers for copies. In addition, we plan to create an SRC website that will host these resources in a more organized and accessible format, ensuring students can retrieve academic materials anytime with ease.
4. Transparency in School Fees
We will advocate for a detailed breakdown of school fees so that every student understands what they are paying for. This will help resolve misunderstandings with parents and guardians regarding fee payments.
5. Repairing Damaged Garden Seats
We will repair all broken garden seats before they deteriorate further, which would require more funds to replace than they are in their current state. This will enhance outdoor learning and group discussions that may not necessarily take place in the classroom. These garden seats if repaired will provide a conducive place to sit for fresh air and escape the noise and heat that sometimes colleagues produce in our various dormitories.
SPORTS POLICIES
1. Smoothening and redemarcation of the Handball Court
It is essential to smoothen the handball court to reduce injuries caused when players fall. Sneakers are easily damaged on the current surface, discouraging talented students from participating. Smoothening it will then encourage more people who have love and passion for the game to come out and also take part in this discipline. We also need a basketball court. After resurfacing, we will use two different colors to demarcate the court to be able to handle both basketball and handball, allowing the same court to serve two different purposes for the interim.
2. Connecting with External Donors
We will reach out to organizations and companies such as OGA, MTN, Anum Rural Bank, GCB, Telecel, and Hot Oven through formal letters to seek support for completing the multipurpose sports complex. This will ensure that the hard work and our own hard-earned money does not go to waste.
HEALTH POLICIES
1. Reopening the Washroom at Block C
Just like every institution, we will provide two large barrels, one for each gender, along with buckets and baskets for storing water, disposing of used tissue, and flushing. We will also supply detergents monthly for cleaning as needed. This will enable us to keep the place always hygienic and safe for our own use.
2. Washing and Cleaning of Polytanks
To ensure safe water for bathing, drinking, and cooking, we will regularly clean all polytanks on campus. This will be done either by trained plumbers or supervised student volunteers. We will use long-handled brushes, buckets, mild disinfectants, and high-pressure hose nozzles to thoroughly rinse and sanitize the tanks.
3. Wellington Boots for Campus Clean-Up
We will provide Wellington boots to protect students during periodic clean-up exercises in bushy areas across campus, ensuring safety from reptiles and other hazards while promoting a cleaner environment.
4. Refurbishing Dormitories
We will advocate for the refurbishment of dormitory facilities, washroom facilities and various bath houses to improve hygiene, comfort, and safety for all residents.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY
I believe that responsibility comes with privilege. That’s why, under my leadership, the SRC will actively engage with students, listen to their concerns, and respectfully present their needs to the appropriate authorities. Your opinions will matter, your suggestions will shape decisions, and transparency in resource use will be our standard. Together, we’ll protect and improve the intellectual home we all share.
STUDENT REPRESENTATION
Fellow students, this is not a role for those driven by ego, personal gain, or the desire to impress. Leadership demands humility, empathy, and dedication to the collective good—not selective interests.
I am committed, selfless, and ready to serve beyond the walls of any hall. You need someone who speaks with purpose, not noise. Someone who understands your needs and is willing to stand with you, not above you.
I will represent you wherever and whenever duty calls.
Teamwork is my hallmark, and together we can make Mother GOVCO a better institution.
CLOSING
To conclude, if entrusted with this role, I will humbly serve—not just lead. True leadership requires patience, wisdom, and the humility to learn from those who came before us.
Let us all rise to the occasion and vote for the progress of our cherished institution.
“The punishment for not involving in politics is that you end up being governed by inferiors.” — Plato
I believe in honest leadership. That’s why I choose to speak from ability, not exaggeration. Let your vote reflect competence, proven dedication, and realistic goals.
Together, we build. Together, we rise.
I urge you to vote with clarity and conviction—choose leaders who are capable and whose plans are practical.
Together, we can achieve more, if our foundation is strong.
Long live Mother GOVCO.
Long live Ghana.
Vote Gbedemah Christian as SRC President.
Thank you for believing in the vision.
Good job
